Sat on the rocks near Carmel for an hour watching a hermit crab try 3 different shells before picking one, and now I keep handing that same choice to my characters. What small thing have you stolen from real life for a prompt?

Wait, the crab tried THREE different shells? I've literally never thought about a crab being picky like that, that's wild. Now I can't stop picturing it standing there holding up shells like it's shopping for shoes.
