That time my car died in a drive-thru line in Tulsa
Stuck at a Sonic in 100 degree heat. Starter went out completely. Had to push it into a parking spot with two strangers helping. Did the repair myself the next day with a $90 part and 4 hours of cussing. Anyone else fixed something on the fly in a weird spot?

Four hours of cussing sounds about right for a starter swap. Did you have the right tools with you or did you have to MacGyver something to get it done in the parking lot? I'm always curious how people handle those shade tree repairs when they're stuck without a full socket set.

Gotta say I was mostly working with a half busted socket set and a hammer that did double duty as a persuasion tool. The worst part was the lower bolt on the starter, couldn't get a straight angle on it so I ended up using a wrench with a cheater bar made out of a tire iron. Took forever to get that thing to break loose but once it did the rest was simple. Honestly the MacGyver stuff is half the fun when you're doing it in a parking lot, makes you feel like a real mechanic when you get it running again.

Ngl, how bad was the rust on that lower bolt? That's usually the part that makes me reconsider my life choices in a parking lot.
