Writing prompts that explain the whole plot are killing the fun
Been in a Wednesday night workshop in Tucson for 6 months and I swear the prompts that hand you the ending ("write about the day she forgives him") get way better stories than the vague ones, yet people keep posting "write about a door" like that's some magic trick.
A door. Real inspiring. Next week someone will post "write about a chair" and we'll all sit around pretending it unlocked our hidden trauma. Meanwhile the prompt that says "she forgives him at the funeral" gets a story with an actual pulse. Wild how giving people something to push against works better than handing them a blank wall.
