Wrote 300 prompt titles for one story and only 4 of them worked
So I got this idea for a story about a guy who fixes clocks in a dying mall, and I decided to write 300 prompt titles for it over two weeks in my notebook. I filled up a whole spiral notebook from the drugstore and when I read them all back, only 4 made me actually want to write the thing. The other 296 were stuff like "a man sits in a mall" which tells you nothing and makes you feel nothing. I think the problem is I was writing prompts that describe the scene instead of prompts that make you ask a real question. What do you all do when your prompts feel flat, do you scrap them or keep digging on the same idea?
