I disputed a late payment by phone and by mail, and the mail one actually worked
I had a $75 payment to a store card land 2 days late in January because their app kept crashing on me. First I called the number on the back, and after 40 minutes the rep just kept repeating that the system decides, so nothing changed. A couple weeks later I printed the same dispute, wrote out the dates and the app error message, and mailed it to the address on my statement. About 3 weeks after that I got a letter saying the fee was removed and the late mark was pulled from my report. My guess is the phone rep had no room to do anything, but the written one actually gets read by someone with a say. Has anyone else had better luck with a letter than a call on stuff like this?
