Warning: that credit monitoring service I used just sent my info to the wrong address
I signed up for CreditKarma's free monitoring back in March and they mailed a letter with my full SSN to an old address from 2019. The current tenant opened it and called me. I had to freeze all three bureaus and file a fraud alert. Anyone else have a monitoring service mess up like this?

Yeah that's seriously messed up. CreditKarma should have your current address on file if you updated it. Freezing your credit was smart but what a headache. This is why I always check my mail settings monthly now. These services are supposed to protect you not make things worse.

Wait, so their big idea to 'protect' you is to mail your SSN to some random stranger? That's like a bodyguard punching you in the face and then saying 'see, I warned you about danger.' @faith27 is right about checking mail settings, but honestly this is on CreditKarma for not even verifying the address before sending sensitive stuff. I had a similar scare last year with a different service and it took me three weeks to get them to admit they screwed up. The worst part is you freeze your credit and still feel paranoid for months after. Gotta love how 'free' monitoring ends up costing you hours of your life and a lingering distrust of the mail.
