Client moved a Friday deadline to Wednesday while I was at my kid's soccer game in Fresno
I said yes from the bleachers without checking my hours, then knocked out the whole thing in one 14 hour push and actually finished a day early, so now I'm wondering if the panic was the only thing making me fast.

Read a study once about how people do worse on easy tasks when they're stressed but actually do better on hard ones. Like the pressure narrows your focus so you stop overthinking every little step. You knocked out 14 hours of work because your brain went into shutdown mode and just did the thing. The fear of missing the new deadline probably killed all your usual stalling and second guessing. Maybe the trick isn't the panic itself but having a hard wall you can't talk your way around.
