Dental x-ray radiation is way lower than I thought, checked the numbers last week
I looked up the actual millisievert numbers for a single bitewing after my dentist in Phoenix kept pushing annual scans, and it's less than a day of background radiation, so has anyone else found that the comparison charts online are miscalibrated for modern digital sensors?

The comparison charts aren't really miscalibrated for digital sensors, but they are confusing because they show the old film doses. Digital is way lower, like you said, but the charts online usually mix both old and new numbers together. So when you see a bitewing listed as 0.005 mSv, that's the digital dose. But other charts still show 0.02 mSv for film, which makes people think digital is worse than it is. I'd trust the numbers from your dentist's office or the ADA over random charts. Also, less than a day of background radiation sounds about right for a single bitewing, but remember you usually get 4 of them at once. Still nothing to worry about though.
