Picked a $40 ultrasonic cleaner over a $150 one and my retainer has never looked better
Six months ago my dentist in Columbus gave me two options for keeping my night guard clean: a store brand soak tab or a cheap ultrasonic cleaner. I grabbed a $40 cleaner off the shelf at a hardware store instead of the dental supply version that cost $150, mostly because I am cheap and it was right there. First week I ran it twice a day with plain water, and the film that builds up on the guard was gone by day three. My dentist checked it at my last visit last month and said it looked like it was only a few weeks old, which surprised me since the guard is 2 years old. The $150 model has a heater and a nicer basket, so I still wonder if I am missing anything. Has anyone here run a cheap cleaner long term and had the plastic or the metal parts wear out?
