Vent: my front crown looked perfect in the mirror but garbage in photos, is that normal?

After 3 visits to a dentist in Austin I finally got this crown shaped right in the mirror, but my friend snapped a pic at dinner last week and the top edge clearly shows a gray line, so I'm wondering if anyone else has seen that difference between mirror view and camera flash and did your dentist fix it or just say it's fine?
