inThe day I realized my 'emergency fund' was just a savings account with a nicer name
Biggest trap honestly @the_laura. It's like our brains just treat all money in checking as "extra" until something actually goes wrong. Separate account is a game changer. Out of sight, out of mind, that cash actually stays put.

inWasted $40 on a brush pack that had zero bristles
Have you checked if maybe they were downloaded at thumbnail size instead of full resolution? That's a common mistake that makes high-res brushes look like solid blobs.

inThat time a builder told me my transition strips were all wrong
I mean, I get what they're saying about the big gap looking sloppy, but I don't know if calling it a crutch is totally fair. There's gotta be some middle ground where you leave enough room for the wood to move without it looking like a canyon. Maybe it's just me, but I've seen floors buckle because someone was too stingy with that gap. So yeah, lazy installs are a thing, but so are floors that pop up in the middle of summer because you didn't give them any breathing room.

inDiscovered setting my tool offsets while the spindle is stopped was costing me parts
The part about chasing size for three parts really hit home. I had a similar nightmare with some stainless steel parts last year, kept getting off by about half a thou and couldn't figure out why. Just like you said, soon as I started doing live touch offs at 500 rpm it fixed everything and I haven't gone back. Its crazy how much those tiny vibrations or runout can mess with your reference point when the spindle is stopped. Plus that bit about tool pressure is spot on, you can feel if the tool is gonna deflect or chatter before you even make a real cut.

inVent: A customer in Phoenix yelled at me for an hour over a $50 invoice
That sound like a satisfying victory, @jennybailey would appreciate the validation. Did the client apologize at least?
