Coolant flushes every 24 months vs waiting for the smell

I used to push coolant flushes until I caught that sweet smell in the cab or saw the gauge creep. Last year I finally stuck to a 24 month schedule on my 2019 Freightliner, and the difference in the heater output alone was night and day. Before the flush, at 18 months the coolant looked fine but tested weak at 30 percent concentration. After the full flush and refill with fresh ELC, the engine runs about 10 degrees cooler on the same grades over I-70 in Colorado. It costs me around $80 in fluid and an hour of my Saturday, but the peace of mind beats a blown head gasket any day. Has anyone else noticed better fuel economy after a strict antifreeze interval, or am I just imagining that part?
