Fleet truck ate a valve seat outside Odessa, need rebuild advice
Last Tuesday one of our 2019 Freightliner Cascadias lost compression on cylinder 4 about 40 miles east of Odessa. Pulled the head and the valve seat dropped, wrecked the piston and liner. Shop quoted 12 grand for an inframe, but I'm wondering if anyone has run the cheaper Chinese liner kits for these Detroit DD15s. Has anyone else had luck with those aftermarket kits or should I just bite the bullet on OEM parts?

12 grand for an inframe is rough but those cheap Chinese liner kits are a gamble on a DD15. I've seen guys save a few bucks upfront then lose a liner at 50k miles and pay double in the end. For a fleet truck that's gotta make you money, I'd go OEM on the liners and pistons at least.
