Followed the book on injector torque for 2 years before a old timer at a truck stop in Amarillo called me out
Was torquing down a set of injectors on a 5.9 and this old guy watching me goes, you know those bolts stretch if you reuse em right? I been reusing them for two years because the manual I had just said torque to spec and never mentioned they were TTY bolts. Ended up pulling the head twice on a customer truck because of it, cost me about $600 in parts and a weekend I'll never get back. Now I keep a caliper in my box and measure every bolt before it goes back in. Any of you got a tool or trick you wish somebody told you about sooner?
