Guy at the truck stop in Amarillo asked why I don't drain my water separator every fill up
He said he's seen 3 injector failures this year from guys skipping it, and at $400 a pop that math adds up real fast. Anybody else change their drain schedule after a talk like that?
The thing nobody talks about is where you're buying fuel. If you're filling up at a place with old tanks or one that just got a delivery, you're stirring up all the crap that settled at the bottom, and that water separator is doing overtime whether you drain it or not. I started watching that more than my drain schedule, and it changed where I buy. A clean station every fill is worth more than draining on the dot. The guy in Amarillo was right about the math, but the tank matters as much as the drain.
