Swapped from a drawing tablet to an iPad for digital art and my linework got way cleaner
I spent 6 months fighting with a Wacom Intuos on my PC and my lines always came out shaky, but after 2 weeks on an iPad with Procreate everything just flows smoother. Has anyone else made a switch that immediately improved their art?

The same thing happened to me with a different tool. Got a new keyboard with a nicer feel and suddenly my typing speed went way up. It makes me wonder how often we blame ourselves for being bad at something when really the tool is just working against us. Sometimes the right setup makes all the difference without us even realizing it. It's almost like our brains can finally focus on the actual work instead of fighting the gear.

Honestly, your friend scott.alex is onto something there. I saw this happen with my buddy Leo back in college. He was using some cheap, laggy tablet for his graphic design classes and he legit thought he just sucked at digital painting. Lines were all over the place, he was getting so frustrated. Then his girlfriend bought him a refurbished iPad and an Apple Pencil for his birthday. After a week he was sending me stuff that looked completely different, like a totally different artist's work. It's wild how much fighting the tool can mess with your confidence and your actual skill.

I'm not sure it's that serious though... like yeah, a bad tool can be annoying but blaming everything on the gear feels like an excuse sometimes. @craig.parker, your buddy Leo probably just needed more practice and the new iPad gave him a confidence boost more than anything else. People swap out their setup all the time and still make the same stuff if they haven't actually gotten better. I get that fighting lag sucks, but a good artist can work around most of that if they really want to.
