I was sure the Chiang Mai digital nomad scene was just hype
I kept hearing about it for years and figured it was overblown. Then I spent two months there and found the coworking spaces, like Punspace, were full of people actually getting work done, not just partying. The reliable internet and low cost of living, about $1,200 a month for a nice setup, made it really easy to focus. Has anyone else had a place they doubted that turned out to be a great spot to work from?

Lisbon totally surprised me in the same way.

I had this idea Lisbon would be all old buildings and museums. Then I saw the LX Factory, this whole arts district built in an old printing plant. The energy there, with the street art and live music, completely flipped my view. It felt way more modern and alive than I expected.

Oh man, that's so true about Lisbon... I thought it was just history too, but those old spaces getting a new life give it such a cool vibe. Makes you wonder what other cities have that same kind of hidden, creative energy.
