Pro tip: a cafe owner in Medellin told me to stop working from my laptop on the patio, and I still think about it
Six months ago I was working from the same spot in El Poblado every morning, and the owner pulled me aside and said I was taking up a two top for four hours on one coffee while paying guests walked away. I was annoyed at first, but he had a point, so I started doing two hour blocks and moving to a coworking spot after lunch, which costs me about $90 a month. The weird part is my focus actually got better because I stopped treating a busy patio like an office. But I still see folks on here swear that buying one drink all day is fair game, and honestly I am not sure where the line should be. Where do you all draw it, do you ask the staff first or just go until someone says something?
