Vent: I ignored coworking day passes for 2 years and just tried one in Medellin
I always thought paying $15 for a day pass was dumb when I could work from my Airbnb for free, but the wifi at my spot in Poblado kept dropping during calls. Last Tuesday I caved and tried Selina in El Poblado, and the internet held up all 6 hours while I got more done than the previous 3 days combined. Now I'm questioning my whole budget setup, does anyone else factor in coworking costs when picking a city or do you just roll the dice on cafe wifi?
Rolling the dice on cafe wifi has burned me too many times to keep doing it. Last year in Lisbon I spent a whole morning bouncing between three cafes because the first two had dead spots or loud music, and I still missed a client call. So now I check whether a city has decent coworking options before I book, and I just build the $10 to $15 a day into my budget from the start. It stings a little, but losing a client over bad wifi costs way more than a day pass.
