PSA: Dropped $400 on a mini split for the garage and it turned my workshop into a whole different place
Last spring I finally got fed up with sweating through every project in my garage. I bit the bullet and spent $400 on a 12k BTU mini split, plus another $150 on line set and brackets because I did the install myself. First weekend I had it running, I was out there at 8am finishing a coffee table and it was 72 degrees inside while it was 95 outside. My table saw didn't rust up like it did the year before, and my glue ups actually cured right instead of turning gummy. Before this I tried two box fans and a window unit that barely made a dent, so I was pretty sure I was about to waste half a grand on another dumb idea. Turns out it was the best money I've spent on the shop, and I'm out there almost every night now instead of avoiding it until fall. Did anyone else go mini split over a window unit and actually notice a difference in their tools holding up?
