Spent $340 on a self leveling compound kit for my basement and it did basically nothing
Followed the mixing ratio on the bag exactly, poured it over a floor that was maybe 3/8 inch out of whack, and it just pooled in the low spots and cracked around the edges after it cured, so now I'm out $340 plus a weekend and I still have a wavy floor, has anyone actually gotten this stuff to work or am I just supposed to hire someone?
Yikes, 3/8 inch might be the real problem here. That stuff is meant for feathering out small dips, like a quarter inch at most in most cases, and once you go past that the weight of it just does what water does and finds the lowest point. Here's the thing nobody tells you, you usually have to do it in two or three thin passes with primer between each one, not dump the whole bag down at once. A 3/8 drop across a whole floor is honestly a job for a pro with a screed and a laser, not a bucket and a squeegee.
