The cabinet guy in Allentown told me to stop using a level on old walls
I was installing uppers in a 1920s row house last Thursday when the homeowner's dad, who did cabinets for 30 years, watched me fight a level for 20 minutes and told me to just scribe to the wall and stop chasing plumb. I cut a 3/8 inch filler strip and had the whole run done before lunch. What's your go to trick for hanging cabinets on walls that are nowhere near straight?
Did he say anything about how much out of plumb is too much before you give up? I get scribing the face frame, but what about the cabinet box itself sitting cocked? Curious if he lets the doors and hinges hide the gap or does something else first.
