Started on a Tuesday morning thinking it was a quick swap, but the drywall crumbled in my hands and I found rot going back about 8 inches near the shutoff valve. Ended up replacing 3 studs and a chunk of subfloor I didn't plan for, all because of a slow drip that had probably been going for a couple years. Got it all buttoned back up by Friday night before she came home, but the whole week was a mess of trips to the hardware store. If you're pulling a vanity, shine a flashlight back there first, what did you find when you did yours?
Man that is rough, a quick swap turning into a full rebuild is the worst surprise. Good on you for getting it done before she got home though, bet that shutoff valve drip had been laughing at you for years.
