Overkill on bracing turned out to be my safety net
I used to slap together deck frames with minimal cross bracing, figured it was fine since I'd never seen one fail. Then last spring I helped a buddy tear down a 12 year old deck in Spokane and the joists had twisted so bad the railing was wobbly. That visual stuck with me, so I added hurricane ties and extra blocking to my next two builds. The difference in rigidity was night and day, even on a simple 8x10 platform. Any of you add structural extras that felt dumb at first but you'd never skip now?

Did you check the joist hanger nails or just eyeball it on site?
