Saw a guy build a whole shed using 2x4 trusses 24 inches on center in Fort Worth, am I wrong for thinking that's too far apart?
Was helping my brother in law move some stuff in Fort Worth two weekends ago and the neighbor across the street was framing up a 12x16 shed in his driveway. I stopped to watch for a bit because he was knocking it out fast, and that's when I noticed his roof trusses were spaced 24 inches on center instead of 16. He used 2x4s for the trusses too, with just a single gusset plate at each joint. I build stuff on the side and I've always done 16 on center with 2x6 rafters for anything I want to hold up more than a few years. Maybe he's planning to sheath it heavy and it's fine, but it bugged me the whole drive home. Anyone here built a shed with 24 inch spacing and had it hold up okay through a few winters?
