Am I the only one who installed a shelf that fell immediately?
Tried to put up a floating shelf in my living room. Used a video guide from the internet. Got the drill out and did the work. It seemed solid at first. Then it just dropped off the wall. My dog barked at the noise for ten minutes. I have to start over with better wall plugs.

Just a tiny thing, but those are usually called anchors, not wall plugs. Lol, we've all been there though. Wrong type for your wall and it's coming right back down.

So which specific anchors have you actually tried in plaster that failed? Some of the plastic ones just split the lath, but I've had the metal screw-in kind work okay if you hit a solid spot.

Plaster walls are the worst for shelves... they crumble if you use the wrong anchor. @annaf73 is right about the name, but also check if your wall is drywall, plaster, or concrete. I had to get heavy-duty toggle bolts for mine, and it's been solid for a year now. The video guides never mention that part.
