Painted our faded oak cabinets in Spokane and the kitchen looks 15 years newer
The cabinets in our 1998 kitchen had that orangey oak finish and I hated them but new ones were $6,000 we did not have. I spent $120 on a deglosser, a bonding primer, and two quarts of sage green paint, plus about $30 on new knobs. It took me four full days spread over two weekends, mostly because I had to wait overnight between coats. The before and after is honestly wild, same boxes and same doors, just a different color and suddenly the whole room feels brighter. My neighbor stopped by and asked when we got new cabinets, which felt pretty good. Has anyone here painted over oak and had the grain still show through after a year or so?
