A harbor master's 3-word note changed how I run my rig

Last month in Galveston, the harbor master watched me dig a slip and left a sticky note on my cab that just said 'less curl, more drag'. I tried it on the next few cuts and my spoil piles came out way flatter, no more overworking the swing cylinders. Anyone else get a random tip from a shore guy that actually stuck?

Got a note from a dockmaster in Port Fourchon once that just said "your tide tables are lies." Took me two weeks to realize he meant the current was pulling harder than the tide chart showed, so I started watching the water movement instead. Now I check the buoys before I trust any forecast.
