Serious question, that 'grease the cutterhead every 2 hours' tip from old Bob? Saved my gear

Ngl, I thought Bob was just being dramatic when he told me to grease the cutterhead every 2 hours on the dot. Last week I skipped a round dealing with a clog near Charleston Harbor. After 4 hours, the bearings started sounding rough and I had to pull the rig to check. Honest truth, the wear marks were worse than anything in my 3 years doing this. Has anyone else had an old hand's advice save them from a costly repair like this?

Seems like a waste of perfectly good grease if you ask me.

And the real cost isn't just the grease, it's the time you lose pulling the rig early to check bearings. Bob's 2 hour rule is basically cheap insurance compared to a whole cutterhead rebuild.

Learned that one the hard way myself. Spent more on a weekend rebuild than a year's worth of grease would have cost me.
