Hit 500 square feet of tape in one shift and my back is feeling it today

I was on a big basement job in Denver last week and just kept rolling. Looked at my tally at the end of the day and realized I had mudded and taped over 500 square feet by myself. That's a personal record for me, and honestly I didn't think I had that pace in me. Anyone else ever surprise themselves with a number like that on a solo run?

So were those butts actually flat or were you just moving fast enough to forget to check your own work?

Gotta push back on that. 500 feet solo is solid work but it's a lot easier to hit those numbers when you're skimming over bad prep. I've seen guys brag about big tape numbers only to find out the corner beads were floating and the butts were barely feathered. That number means nothing if the homeowner's squinting at every seam six months later. Tape count's a flex for production guys, not craftsmen.

Wait, have you ever met a homeowner who actually checks seams with a magnifying glass?
