I finally fixed the arcade machine at Joe's Diner last night
The high score screen lighting up again was PRICELESS.

Actually, my buddy tried to fix a Pac-Man cabinet at his uncle's bar and it did not go well. He ordered what he swore was the right part online, but when he swapped it in, the whole monitor just went dark with a weird buzzing sound. It reminds me of what hayden_taylor85 said about their presence adding fifty bucks, because my friend's simple fix turned into a three-hundred dollar professional visit. The repair guy found like three other problems caused by the wrong part. Do you think most old arcade machines are just held together by hope and dust at this point?

My buddy let me help with a Centipede repair and we ended up needing a new power supply. Hope and dust are the only things keeping these machines from sensing my incompetence.

That's awesome about the high score screen. My attempt to fix anything usually just makes it more expensive, you know? What game was it?

Olivia_perez, your 'make it more expensive' skill sounds familiar. I touched a dusty console and suddenly needed a professional repair guy. The game was Galaga, and the high score list would reset every time we moved the arcade machine. I swear, my mere presence adds fifty bucks to any fix.
