My neighbor's kid asked if I could 'factory reset' their broken microwave

It made me think about how the idea of a quick fix is everywhere now, even for hardware that's clearly fried. Has anyone else noticed customers using more software terms for physical repair problems?

Ever try to reboot a toaster?

Imagine trying to explain a firmware patch to a slice of bread. The toaster would probably just burn the update notes.

I mean, I unplugged mine for a full minute once and it just gave me the same burnt crumbs. Maybe it's just me but I feel like toasters have one setting: vaguely disappointed. You'd need a software update just to get it to acknowledge the bagel button works. Honestly, if my toaster needed a reboot, I'd just accept that it's time for a new one.
