Blew $420 on a used pit light kit that I could have built from Home Depot parts for $60
Fought shadows in a 1950s OTIS pit for 2 weeks because the "pro" LED kit from an elevator supply site had a driver that kept cutting out on me. Just get a 4ft 5000k shop light and a magnetic mount, save your money and your knees. Anybody got a pit light setup that actually lasts through a whole maintenance route?

Man, I feel this in my soul. I was talking to an old timer on a route last year and he said he's been running the same two 4ft shop lights zip tied to a piece of unistrut for like 8 years. Swears by it. He said the "elevator grade" stuff is just repackaged junk with a markup because they know we'll pay it. I went the cheap route after hearing that and haven't had a single driver crap out on me yet. The magnetic mounts are clutch too since you can just slap them on the pit wall wherever you're working.
