I quit using never-seize on wedge shackles after a 6-stop shut down
I had been slathering never-seize on every wedge shackle for about 4 years because that's how the old timer who trained me in Fort Wayne did it. Last month a shackle slid right out of its socket during a 6 stop shut down at a mid rise on Calhoun Street, and my lead asked why I was greasing a part that's supposed to lock by friction and have a cotter pin as backup. So what torque spec and dry fit are you all running on wedge shackles these days?
