My old foreman told me to never trust a 20-year-old hydraulic valve without checking the seals first. Guess what blew out on a 3-story lift yesterday?

Your foreman gave you solid advice, but I'd take it a step further. Age is one factor, but how many cycles that valve has seen matters just as much. A valve used daily for 20 years is in way worse shape than one sitting in a warehouse. Always check the maintenance logs if you can!

Lol, @drews55, so it's basically a valve's MIDLIFE crisis?

Check the actual WEAR first.
