Just realized my follow-up email was too nice, being direct got me paid in 2 days
Last Tuesday I sent a soft reminder to a client in Portland about an invoice that was 3 weeks late. Got nothing. So Thursday I rewrote it with a clear deadline and laid out exactly what happens if they miss it. No threats, just facts with a date. They paid that afternoon. I used to think polite and vague was professional, but it just made it easy to ignore. Has anyone else found that adding a specific consequence or date to a follow up actually speeds things up?
