Invoice sat for 3 weeks, I finally walked into their office in Denver
I finished a website build on the 2nd and sent the invoice same day. By the 23rd it was still unpaid, emails going to voicemail, so I drove to their shop and stood at the front desk until the manager came out. They paid right there with a check, but only after saying 'we thought you were okay waiting a bit longer'. Anybody else ever have to show up in person to get paid?
That "we thought you were okay waiting" line would've set me off. What part of sending an invoice says "pay me whenever you feel like it"? Did they actually have the cash on hand, or did your showing up force them to scramble and write a check they weren't ready to cut? Three weeks is already pushing it, but the fact they tried to flip it back on you like you were the one being unreasonable is a huge red flag. That tells me they planned to drag it out even longer until someone made them uncomfortable. So what happens next time, are you adding late fees to your invoices now or just blocking anyone who pulls this again?
