Vent: I finally stopped trusting net 30 and started asking for half upfront after a $2,400 mess in Phoenix
Everyone in my circle says asking for a deposit scares off good clients, and I believed that for 3 years, until a web design client in Phoenix sat on a $2,400 invoice for 4 months and stopped answering my calls. I finally tried half upfront on my next two jobs and both people paid without a word, one even said "that's normal, why didn't you ask sooner." The part that stings is I lost the Phoenix money for good, so the fear cost me way more than the ask ever would have. Now I want to know how you all handle the ones who agree to a deposit but drag their feet on the final half, because that's where I'm still stuck.
