Update: the 14% stat about fragrance in skincare finally made sense when I looked at my own shelf
I read on a derm blog that fragrance is the top cause of contact dermatitis in leave-on products and realized 9 of the 11 serums and creams I've been testing on my own face all list parfum in the first five ingredients, so now I'm wondering if anyone else has cut fragrance out of their personal routine and actually seen their barrier calm down or if that's just Internet drama.
Ha, sure, and half those products list water first too, so are you gonna blame that? Fragrance gets picked on because it is easy to spot on a label, but the real trigger could be a preservative, an essential oil hiding under a fancy name, or just plain over-testing eleven products on one face at once. Cut the fragrance if you want, but change one thing at a time or you will never know what actually helped.
