Dropped $180 on a dress form that was 2 sizes off from the listing
I bought a dress form off a marketplace listing in Portland that claimed to be a size 8, and when it showed up my measurements didn't line up at all. The bust was 4 inches smaller than what the seller posted, so every mockup I draped on it pulled weird across the chest. I tried to fix it with a padded bra and some quilt batting, but it still threw off my armhole curves on two dresses I was making for a wedding. Ended up eating the $180 plus $40 in fabric I wasted on muslins before I gave up. Has anyone found a decent way to recheck a form's real measurements before buying, or should I just save up for one I can try in person?
