Had to choose between a 0.5mm and 0.7mm lead for a huge set of architectural details

My old boss always insisted on 0.9mm for redlines. Can't argue with saving two hours though, right?

Just realized my 'emergency fund' was way too small after talking to my neighbor

Have you ever had a client check bounce, @joseph_green13? My "overkill" fund is what kept the lights on when that happened to me. It felt like a silly amount to save up until I actually needed it. Now I see it as the cost of doing business on my own terms. That safety net means I don't have to panic and take any work that comes along.

Just cut my 10,000th steak and it felt weird

Count it up, that's a huge milestone!

Question about the forge setup at the historical village in Williamsburg

My grandpa ran a blacksmith shop in Boone with a firepot just like that. He fixed plows and wagon wheels all day long in it. You just have to know how to stack the coal right to get a good heat.

TIL a 30-day payment term actually costs you money, found it in a book on small business finance.

Wait, is that the real key? Like @alice817 just being straight with the numbers? Maybe we all try to be too polite about money... I've sent those "friendly reminder" emails that get ignored for weeks. But showing the actual cost, that it hurts your supply chain... that makes it real for them. It's not a late fee, it's why their next order might be delayed. Makes them part of the solution instead of just the problem.
