My daughter said my color palettes were 'sad' and it stuck with me
She's eight, and she pointed at my mood board for a fall line and asked why everything was gray and brown. I told her it was 'sophisticated,' but she just said it looked like the sidewalk after rain. I'm adding a pop of coral to the collection now. Has anyone else had a simple comment completely shift a project's direction?

My entire spring line last year was just different shades of beige until my nephew asked if it was for invisible people. Kids have a way of cutting right to the truth, don't they. Honestly, that coral pop sounds like a great call. Sometimes you need someone to point out the sidewalk before you remember to look up at the sky.

That "look up at the sky" part really got me. It's funny how a kid's comment can make you see your own closet like you're a stranger walking by.

Remember when we were kids and everything felt new? It's wild how we lose that.
