Spent $80 on a dress form, and it made me realize my draping was the problem all along
I bought a cheap adjustable dress form for $80 at a going out of business sale two months ago. For a year before that I was pinning fabric on my roommate or on a hanger, and everything I made looked off in the shoulders. The first time I draped a bodice on that form I saw my armhole curve was way too shallow, not the fabric's fault like I kept blaming. Turns out my pattern blocks were built from bad measurements I took myself while twisting to see the tape. Now I want to know if anyone else drafts their own blocks or just buys commercial ones, because I'm starting over from scratch on mine.
How did you figure out your blocks were off, was it just the armhole or did other spots show up once you started draping? Curious if you're trashing all your old blocks or just fixing the shoulder and armhole parts.
