My first time with a self-leveling concrete mix on a post base, never going back
Did an 80 foot run in Fresno last month and the old way of hand-mixing and leveling each post took forever. Swapped to a self-leveling mix for the last 14 posts and it cut my setup time by about half. The trick is you still need to brace the post before you pour, but the mix does the leveling work for you. Anyone else use this on sandy soil or is it just for clay?

Did a similar swap on a job near Bakersfield and the sandy soil was fine once I wet the hole down first. Found that the self-leveling mix needs the moisture to kick off right, otherwise it ends up grabbing too fast and you fight the post anyway. Bracing still matters, but it saves you a lot of back strain on the leveling part, no question.
