Saw a whole subdivision of sagging gates in Phoenix, nobody seems to care
Drove through a new build area off the 101 last week, maybe 60 houses, and at least half the aluminum drive gates were already drooping. The posts were set in concrete, but the hinges were all the cheap strap kind with no anti-sag bracket. The builders saved like $40 a gate and now every one of those homeowners is gonna be calling someone in 2 years. I get that HOAs want the clean look, but I'd rather put a welded eye hinge on every time even if it costs more. Anyone else see this on newer developments in their area, or is it just the desert heat making it worse?

Those cheap hinges aren't just a build quality thing, they're a warranty dodge play. By the time the sag shows up, the builder's one year fit and finish window is long gone and the homeowner eats it. The real fix is codes requiring anti-sag hardware on gates over a certain width, same way they did with balcony rails after enough people got hurt.
