Paid $120 for a contract template pack, then found the same stuff free

I was about to land my first real logo gig and got scared about getting burned on payment. So I dropped $120 on this fancy contract template bundle from some design guru. Looked legit, had all these clauses about revisions and kill fees and whatnot. Then like a week later my buddy in a Discord group posted a link to a free legal forms library from our state bar association. Same basic protection, just needed to fill in the blanks. Could've spent that cash on new fonts or a coffee subscription instead. Anybody else buy something overpriced when they first started just to feel professional? What did you actually get out of it?

Ugh, that stings! Honestly, I get it though, when you're new you just want to look like you know what you're doing so bad. Tbh, I bought a $200 "branding course" that was basically just a bunch of Pinterest boards and a PDF about color psychology, and I never even finished it. The real lesson was that the confidence came from doing the work, not from the stuff I bought. But hey, at least now you know what a fair price looks like, so consider it a very expensive lesson for your future.
