My first real landscaping job was a yard full of mesquite tree stumps, and I priced it based on just the cutting and hauling I figured would take one afternoon. The client's backhoe showed up with a broken arm after two hours, so I ended up hand-digging roots in 104 degree heat for an extra day and a half for free.
