That week in March when I toured 8 houses and the worst one became my favorite

I walked into a fixer upper in Cleveland that smelled like old carpet and had wallpaper from the 80s but the inspector said the foundation was solid and it was 40k under budget, so what I thought I wanted totally changed.

Saw a post on here last week about how first impressions can totally mess with your home buying decisions. Someone mentioned walking into a place that looked like a dump on the surface but had great bones underneath. Sounds exactly like what happened with you. That Cleveland fixer upper probably just needed some elbow grease and new carpet, which is way easier to deal with than a cracked foundation. The 40k under budget part is huge too, gives you room to actually make it yours. Sometimes the ugly duckling houses end up being the best finds if you look past the bad paint and old wallpaper.

Ugly ducklings with good bones are always the real steals.
