Tried pre-cutting tiles and now I'm a convert
I used to think cutting tiles as I went was the fastest way to work. It felt more direct and less fussy to me. Then I had a job with a lot of small, intricate cuts around doorways. I decided to mark and cut every piece first just to see. Laying them down after was so much faster without all the stopping. The fit was tighter and I had way fewer waste pieces. It's a small thing, but it made the whole day go better. Now I do it on every tile job, no question.

Totally get that. I was the same for years, cutting each tile right at the wall. Then I had a bathroom with a ton of niches and corners. Spent a whole morning just marking and pre-cutting every single piece. Felt slow at first. But the afternoon laying them was just smooth. No running back and forth, no messing with the saw. Everything just clicked into place. Changed my whole process right then.

Come on, is it really that big a deal? I've tried it both ways and honestly, sometimes the old way is just fine. If you're doing a simple floor with maybe one or two cuts, all that pre-marking feels like you're making extra work for yourself. It's not some magic fix for every single job.
