Pro tip: I thought a kill fee was a bad idea until a project got cancelled after 40 hours of work

Now I put a 25% kill fee clause in every contract, and it saved me from a total loss when a client's budget got cut. How do you guys handle project cancellations?

Ugh, that reminds me of the time a client ghosted me mid-way through a logo design.

Wait, isn't a kill fee just for if they cancel? If their budget got cut, that's still them backing out, right?

Budget cuts are just canceling with extra steps.
